Taking Flight (TF), a tax exempt organization that gives women opportunities to voice our experiences and shows the products of that work to the public, opened its first exhibit and project Telling Intimate True Stories™ on October 6th at Busboys and Poets in Washington, DC with a reception and fundraiser.

Trudy Perry, Executive Director and Donna Beaver-Young, Creative Director, welcomed guests along with the TF Board of Directors and discussed the work of getting women to share personal stories and create artwork from castings of their breasts. Telling Intimate True Stories™ was well received by the standing room only crowd. The exhibit is up through October to highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Taking Flight seeks to gather voices of women and exhibit Telling Intimate True Stories™ throughout the United States and globally. We’re actively recruiting participants for our next exhibit in spring 2011 when we celebrate March, Women’s History Month.
